Restylane® and Perlane®

Restylane has been used in over 1200 treatments at the Laser Treatment Center! We are now also using Perlane which contains larger gel particles and is designed for deeper injection than Restylane. All of our providers have advanced training in the use of dermal fillers and are among the MOST experienced in the Northwest!

What are Restylane and Perlane?
The Restylane family of products includes both Restylane and Perlane. Both are FDA approved, safe and natural cosmetic fillers that replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as smile lines, in addition to lip enhancement.

What are Restylane and Perlane made of?
Restylane and Perlane were the first cosmetic fillers made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. This natural substance already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin.

How does my provider know when to use Restylane and Perlane?
Your provider will recommend the right product for you based on an evaluation of facial wrinkles and folds.

What should patients do prior to treatment?
Avoid using aspirin and other anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E before treatment because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site.

Is Restylane safe?
Yes. Restylane has been used safely since 1996 worldwide. Because it is non-animal-based allergy testing is not required. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site, that typically resolves within 2-3 days.

How long does Restylane last?
Restylane products are proven to deliver long-lasting results. Although individual results vary, studies have shown that the average treatment results last six months or even longer. Restylane lasts twice as long as collagen. Perlane lasts at least six months in a majority of patients. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product is fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect.

How is Restylane different from Botox®?
Restylane is a natural cosmetic filler. Botox® is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

Do the injections hurt?
Restylane is injected directly in the skin in tiny amounts by an ultra fine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your provider may anesthetize the treatment area. You may also use numbing cream one hour prior to your appointment to make the injection more comfortable.
